Job Description

About the role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi

If you are someone who is passionate about working with youth and can motivate and support young people, we are keen to hear from you!

We need casual Skills Trainers to work on an as required basis with our rangatahi (11 to 16 years) in foster care settings in the Hamilton region

Becoming a Skills Trainer provides invaluable experience for those studying social work, psychology or youth work, or is a great opportunity for anyone with experience caring for rangatahi.

You will be required to:

•         Assist rangatahi to develop and practice skills including, behaviour management, communication, coping and problem-solving skills.

•         Assist with after school and holiday/day programmes.

•         Support young people to undertake their daily activities, meet their goals and change their behaviours.

•         Report on sessions with Young People.

•         Attend any training as part of the programme.

About You |  He kōrero mōu ake

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • Full New Zealand driver’s licence.
  • Competency with tikanga and te reo Māori is advantageous or a commitment to starting your journey into Te Ao Māori whilst taking ownership of your learning and growth.
